Our History:
A Tale of Two Churches

Calvary Baptist Church is really the combination of two churches: the original Calvary Baptist Church and Urban Harvest Fellowship.

The original Calvary Baptist Church was founded in the Rose City neighborhood of North Little Rock, AR in 1948 and faithfully proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ at 5025 Lynch Drive for more than 70 years.

Urban Harvest Fellowship was founded in 2009 as a church plant of The Bible Church of Little Rock, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN with the stated purpose of reintroducing a faithful Gospel witness into the inner-city neighborhoods of North Little Rock.

In 2020 both churches were struggling.

Calvary’s membership had dwindled, and its remaining members considered folding – their nice church building and financial resources to be handed over to another congregation for the spread of the Gospel. Meanwhile, with shrinking finances and on the verge of losing their meeting place, the members of Urban Harvest began praying and looking for a new place to meet.

Providence brought the two churches together.

In 2021 Calvary turned over their assets and their building to UHF. Several of Calvary’s members joined UHF and the two congregations began working together as Urban Harvest Fellowship.

In 2024 the leadership of Urban Harvest Fellowship decided to change the name of the church to Calvary Baptist Church once again — a name the residents of Rose City and North Little Rock have come to recognize and appreciate.

And, of course, the mission is the same as it has been for both congregations – to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in North Little Rock to the glory of God the Father.
